It is extremely important that you regularly evaluate your lesson plans and teaching strategy for effectiveness. When reviewing student performance a range of relevant assessment tools, including tests and evaluations, can be used to help pinpoint your successes, achievements, and areas in need of improvement. Listed below are five sources that you may want to consult for additional information on recommended student assessment tools:
- . Ask other professionals in the field. They are a valuable resource and will likely be able to identify some of the assessment tools they already use and have found effective, or they may have suggestions on additional places to search.
- . Ask the principal and/or teachers that you work with at your school. They may have a selection of tools commonly used to evaluate performance, and if so, they will likely let you borrow them.
- . Contact your school district for additional information on student assessment tools. Some school districts have their own library or resource center for such materials.
- . Most County Offices of Education have resource and material centers that have been set up to give teachers and others access to a wide array of educational reference materials, assessment tools included.
- . You can order assessment tool books from the California Department of Education. For additional information, call or visit their website:
